HRE Wheels

Anyone have any experience with HRE wheels? If so, are they worth the money? Anyone have pictures of an HRE wheel in gunmetal on a Diamond Graphite car?

truplay, other than the fact that they are all made to order, and not mass produced, how would they compare to say a Volk wheel?

They do have a few unique wheels...

I've never seen these on a G35, but I'll bet that they would look super. My only fears are that they wouldn't be strong enough.

I'd rather get some DPE's and pocket the rest of the cash.

I had HRE's on my last car. They looked good, but they were heavy. Way heavier than the 19's I have now and they were 17's. They also messed up a couple things and I had to have them redo them and wait a few more weeks. The Volks I have on the G are far better quality and much lighter wheels for much less money. I personally will never buy a set of HRE's again. There are too many good wheels out there for decent prices. The one thing I did like about the HRE's was they would do what you wanted and I had them put the valve stem on the backside so it was hidden, but that ended up being more hassle than it was worth. Good luck whatever you choose.

I love my HREs! To me, they are one of the best in quality, craftmanship, detail, finish, strength, and design. Truly worth every penny! I've had mine for about a month and others love it as well!

HRE's are like the top standard for custom wheels and top luxury brand name aftermarket wheel company, so you get what you pay for....custom order with custom offsets/specs and brand name=$$$$ and some exclusivity.......so yes they are worth it if you have the money and want to floss it off....imo...

Volks are very good wheels also, but offsets/spec/sizing is off-the-shelf and more people have Volks on a g than HRE's....

....but wutever you like/want is up 2 you.....

...the HRE's pictured below look good on a g.....

Every single HRE wheel is designed on the computer, and tested with a finite element analysis program. after the wheels pass the computer analysis, a prototype of every style is created for real testing. they are send to a testing facility where they are tested for radial, and cornering loads. very few companies actually do this. if the wheels fail, they are never released to the public. the design is revised until it will safely pass...and usually with flying colors.

as far as the weight goes, HRE has many different styles, and some weigh more than others. the 840 series being the heaviest, with the 540 series being the middleweight. if you want a really light wheel, you can get the competition series. a 19 X 9 wheel weighs 19 pounds...i have put it on the scale myself. another thing to consider is that the weights that some companies claim are incorrect, and you don't find out the truth until you actually buy them.

you truly have to see HRE's next to some of the competitors to see the difference. seeing pictures of them on the internet does not provide the detail that they deserve.

as far as the wheels breaking on the track, when you see a wheel on the internet, you never know the full story. apparently the story is that they weren't actually HRE's in the pictures, but anyone that is using wheels for race only is told that they need to be replaced every season. this policy goes for most reputable wheel companies.
