TO ALL THE STRETCH TIRE AGGRESSIVE FITMENT GUYS! Need Your Help

Hey, so here is my question:

I have:

245/35/19 on a 19x9 rim front
275/35/19 on a 19x10 rim rear

I want to keep the same sidewall thickness but stretched.

I was thinking:

245/40/19 or 255/35/19 on a 19x9.5 rim front
255/40/19 on a 19x10.5 rim rear

Will the sidewalls be very similar?

If you want "stretched" (wide rim, narrow tire), that wont get it.

With a 9.5 by 19 in the front, you would need a 225 or less get a "stretch" on it.

With a 10.5, you would need a 245 or less.

There is a 350Z in "Modified" magazine last month that had 11" by 19" on the front with 225 35 19" on it and 11" by 19" in the back with 285 35 19" on them. That thing was stretched like a rubber band.

I have a question for the "tire gurus"....

Is there a performance advantage to "stretched" tires or is it simply for looks?

I'm running 8" by 19" rims with 245 40 19" on them and they sit on there just great.

Was that a typo? You said 11" in front and back with different tire widths 225 and 285, seems odd?

Keeping the same sidewall and stretching the tire wont work... You could run a 225/40 up front for a mild stretch and a 245/40 in the rear, once again, you'll only get a mild stretch with that on a 9.5/10.5 setup.

There is NO performance advantage to stretched tires, it's all for looks.

Yes it was, make that 10 front and 11 back.

I imagine that the tire guys don't like mounting them either....

they're actually fairly easy to mount, surprisingly. First time i moutned a stretched tire i thought it would be quite hard, ended up being easier than mounting a wider tire.

I feel that 225/40 on a 9.5in wide wheel and 245/40 on a 10.5in wide wheel will make them look like rubber bands.

I want to keep the same amount of meet but stretched so that I could fit a wider wheel. Possible?

So I hear horror stories of people constantly getting flats on stretched tires, not to mention that it is against the law to stretch tires.

I want to do this so bad! But HONESTLY, how often will I have to be worried?

On the front I run 265s with a 19x10.5 and the rear 285 on a 19x12" wheel I have never had a flat...but I have also never heard its illegal? If your running stretch watch out for pot holes and curbs.

that's when they're stretching a 225/35 tire on a 10.5" wheel... and WHERE did you hear it was against the law to stretch tires? Do you really think that any police officer would know what the recommended wheel/tire specs are? Unless they've worked in the industry before, they'd have absolutely no clue.

and plus, the setup you're going for wont be THAT stretched, it's a little more than a mild stretch, but not an extreme stretch, just right in between.

Wow that is sick stretched!! PICS Please!

I have 10" rims with 295/30 and they look good, not the stretched look but I wanted to protect my rims on a daily driver.

I like stretched look but I wanted to save rims and rim rash, maybe next set of tires I will stretch more.

People run stretched tires because their aggressive wheel fitments require it. If it's not needed, and you run an aggressive stretch just for the look, that's gay as hell.
