I did some research on it when it first came out and the consensus was that the power increase was not worth the money for the g37 guys, i believe the third party dyno i saw a long time back was it was around ~10whp which is not worth ~$600 imo.

Also if i remember right the gains were at the high end of the rpm band and minor loss in the lower range, also IF i remember correctly this is a VQ35HR's manifold modified a little to fit the g37 so it would be of no use to us but confirm this before making any decisions to buy

Hmm those are all good points you have to me.
it doesnt bother me gaining a little compared to what i spend. I mean yeah money is tight but i already have all possible bolt ons besides fi. So if this gives me 1whp then its worth it for me. But like you said i dont want to lose 2 hp in the power band.

I was hoping maybe the motordyne guys would post something. But i guess not. Well i guess ill call them tomorrow and ill report my findings.

there are posts on this on myg37.com but like i said im pretty sure(but not 100%) thats its just our vq35hr manifold modified to fit vq37hr block for better performance and if this is true then it would do nothing for our cars not even a 1whp gain, but its best to contact them and ask to be sure as you did and post back for future reference.

So i did a quick google search so i could refresh my memory and confirm if i was recalling this correctly and it turns out i was right from what i found here. It is in fact a oem UNmodified VQ35HR intake manifold from our cars with mounting hols/screws modified to fit on the vq37hr which has different manifold and apparently the v135hr manifold allows better performance for the 37s but would do nothing for us...

This is what i found...

"What I gathered is the Motordyne intake is a STOCK VQ35 intake. However, Infiniti intentionally changed the bolt pattern to keep them from being interchangeable from both motors. Obviously it has a different plenum design, but Tony does not touch or modify it. What he does do is somehow machine the mounting holes to be able to bolt to the VQ37. After reviewing pics and comparing both intakes to the Motordyne, each bolt hole is shifted a small amount. It is only logical that Tony longates these holes to be able to bolt up, hence the reason for the "top plate" that the bolts go through on the motordyne. "

The length of the intake runners and/or their diameter between the HR and VHR plenums is/are different, hence the shift in power to a higher region in the powerband when you use the HR plenum on the VHR motor (MD has posted a couple years back on the exact difference between the two plenums which I can't remember atm). This effect is similar, albeit smaller in comparison, to installing more aggressive camshafts. You gain more power in the upper RPM region where the engine is usually at in racing situations, but loses power in the lower RPM regions. The MD manifold as kool_yaar mentioned is essentially a stock HR plenum modified to fit the VHR.

ok so finally i was able to get a hold of motordyne.
took a couple days with just leave a messege.

i talked to them and they pretty much confirmed what you guys said. it is a stock g35 hr intake modified to fit the g37 hr. and this produces some power gains.

the m370 does not fit our cars, and it would not produce any gains.

thanks for the input

Bringing this thread from the dead with a question that i was not able to find out there.

Is there NO Intake Manifold spacers for our G35 07+ Sedans??? The Motordyne M370 Intake Manifold from CZP is basically for G37 motors like you guys mentioned it here. I couldn't find anything else out there, at all.

Im guessing our VQ35HR don't need a spacers, or if there was one, it wouldn't benefit???

^^ That's how I have always understood it, unless there is something that has just come along recently.

I've always figured it's just hard to improve on something that was very good to start with.
