07 G35 Sedan - how to make it sound like a coupe

New here...just got an 07 G35S sedan today as a work car...but I have modified everything I have ever driven...and won't drive a stock car for work either!
LOL
Sooo dark tint will be done next week, I got some K&N drop in filters just now, swapping all fluids to Mobil1 full synthetic immediately...AND finally the MOST important:

WHAT can I do (simple) that will get more of a coupe sound out of the sedan exhaust???
I saw somewhere that swapping the midpipe to a coupe one makes it about 20% louder which is all I am really looking for...I don't want it to be raspy I LOVE the sound of the coupe and the FX35 smooth and deep! I listened to a stillen exhaust but at $1100 I won't invest that in a car that's for work and I won't be in long...

I will drive this car about 2000 miles a month and don't want rasp, loud or problems OR to spend $1000 on an exhaust for a car I will only be in for a year to 18 mos.

So, anyone? Will the midpipe swap WORK? If so, where can I get one without too much cost?
Thanks!

Eliminate the y pipe and resonators and install magnaflow 11385.
Also use HFC's

THANKS!

Ok I have done about a dozen car/truck exhausts (I really am not as ignorant as this will seem) before but for CLARITY - HFC meaning high flow cats? Due to 100k warranty would rather not go that far up...

Magnaflow 11385 and no resonators...by resonator are you referring to the first muffler body or the ones to the back? Looking at the design of this muffler I would "assume" that this goes middle of the car and does that mean NO mufflers to the back? Just Y pipe at front (larger I guess) followed by magnaflow 11385 then pipe it to the back?
My 07 looks like it Ys up front after the cats...to a BIG central muffler or resonator (cant get under it enough to see if its ONE big one or 2 separate) then after that heads back separately to the mufflers at the back and tailpipes.

I am trying to get closer to the coupe sound, with least expense as this is my work car...would just cutting out a resonator help considerably? I don't want rasp and loud just a little louder and deep, like the FX35 and coupe.

tanabe mufflers. 500 or so.

then when you're out of the car for good, swap back oems and sell the tanabes.

mid pipe solution is for v35 sedans not your V36 sedan.

The magnaflow 11385 cost about $70.00. Just replace the two resonators after the Y-pipe with this. HFC is High Flow Cats, the best hp and tq you can get but you can change that later. I save the original y-pipe after the cats and put a custom one that goes directly into the 11385 (around $250).

Ok thanks for the picture also...
I see the Y coming into the magnaflow...after the magnaflow do you recommend leaving the back mufflers in place? Or does the magnaflow resonator act as the ONLY muffler and those come off???

I don't want it to be loud and drive me nuts on the highway since I drive 1500-2500 miles a month...good idle and accel sound without much hwy noise...

Leave the back as it is or you can change the mufflers if you like.

Ok thanks man! I think I will do exactly that!
Replace the two resonators with the magnaflow internal x-pipe 11385...see how it sounds for a while...after a few hundred miles if I want MORE sound then go swap the back 2 mufflers for magnaflows...

Sounds like a solid plan...I hope just changing the resonators gives me another 15-20% deeper/louder so I can just leave it at that and not invest a buncha time/$$$ and get some good coupe like rumble!

Thanks again for the guidance!!

Easiest way would be to trade it in for a coupe.

OK - went in with the intention of just changing the resonators out and putting the 11385 magnaflow xpipe muffler/resonator...

Exhaust expert at the shop said that I could just take the stock resonators out for cheaper and would get great sound...NOPE! Sounded like tin crap!
Soooo HIS next best solution was to swap the 2 back mufflers to magnaflow 12225 and I remembered seeing that part number on here...and did it. Sound was better BUT...
Sounds AWESOME at idle...and while cruising there is very little noise inside the cabin...at those 2 times I am satisfied...BUT under load and accel it is a BIT too loud....SO guess I am going back to have the Y pipe cut out and put the Xpipe magnaflow in there...he said that it will be DEEP but will be as quiet as STOCK...I don't think that's correct...

SO, I should have done what I wanted to in the first place instead of listening to the shop owner and trying to save $$...ended up costing me WAY more...now I wonder how it would have sounded just putting the 11385 in...all I wanted was more depth and about 15-20% more sound....
When I go back in I am asking for a discount bigtime!

Ok all done...
Have the 11385 xpipe magnaflow to 12225s at the back...sounds great!
Not loud at all...deep rumble to it some sound when you step on it but NO drone on the highway!

Mufflers were $100 each...so $300 there and another couple hundred in welding and pipe...didn't want to spend that much...I WISH we would have tried JUST the xpipe magnaflow! I THINK that would have been enough for me and not too loud BUT my exhaust "expert" swore it wasn't the way to go...

Oh well - happy with the end result...sounds similar to coupe...and I think I get about 1/2 to 1 mpg better so MUST be a bit more power too...
