Stillen Rotors/Brakes Installed

The car is 2008 G35 Journey Sedan

I am sure many people have already posted reviews of the Stillen Rotors/Brake pads on this site. So I figured one more post wouldn't hurt. Hey if it helps you make your decision, why not!?

Anyhow, the car has about 25,000 miles on, the Rotors have already been shaved once at 17,000 miles. I have the same problems as a lot of people with the steering wheel shaking/brake judder. Mine was actually pretty severe as it happens even at very low speeds. Since Stillen has a sale going on that gives you free pads with rotor purchase, why not?

Here are some pictures of the stock rotors. (Someone let me know what those white spots are.... I have no idea... lol)

Pictures after installation.

Review: There is a break in period with these rotors per stillen:

Instructions are:

1. Bring vehicle up to 40MPH
2. Slow at 40-50% braking effort (similar to stop and go driving) to 25 MPH
3. Repeat step 2 in succession 5 times
4. Bring vehicle up to 55-60 MPH (Conditions permitting)
5. Slow at approximately 75% braking effort (Should not activate ABS) to 25 MPH
6. Repeat step 5 in succession 5 times until "Green Fade" (A noticeable reduction in stopping power) starts to occur
7. If green fade has not started, repeat step 5 a few more times until it does.
8. Once fade has started, immediately stop braking and drive for at LEAST 1/2 mile without using brakes. You may smell the pads off gassing during cool-down. DO NOT APPLY brakes with very hot rotors
9. Allow brakes to cool with vehicle for at least 2 hours before additional use.
10. The new brakes are now 75% bedded. Additional bedding will occur over the next 500 miles.

So the above are straight from Stillen's instruction sheet.

So far I have 200 miles on these rotors and the initial break in period (75% bedding) is done. When I first drove the car right after installation the shaking and brake judder was actually still there (not as bad as before). After the initial break in period stated as above the shaking/judder is about 75% gone. As far as stopping power goes they are much better than OEM rotors. However it is not a day/night difference, stopping distance is decreased but not by a significant amount. The car does feel a lot smoother during braking, which was my main reason for getting these. Installation wise I am sure they are pretty easy (I had a local shop do them since I was... well... too lazy and did not have the tools). I will update as I put more miles on them.

Thanks guys.

looks nice man!

I have one question: when you open your windows and drive, do you hear wind noise coming form the rotors? I guess...does it sound like sprinklers watering a lawn? LOL..

that's what mine sounds like and i put on .

i don't really regret putting them on... I, too, have had those brake judder problems, and this was the main reason to change out all my rotors and pads. So far, 400 miles in... i am very happy. braking is really butter. no wobbles, no shudder, no squeaks, nothing... sweetness. also, not too bothered by the wind noise though.

I was just curious if you have wind noise with those drilled rotors?

I actually haven't driven the car with the windows down yet. Just got them today and it's cold and wet out (which made break in a PITA). But I'll let you know once I do!
