I got 14.2 stock too. 101.3

One of my friends got 13.86 with basic bolt-ons. And now that I've done a few mods, I'm hoping for mid 13s this year. Low 13s would be great, but I'll have to see how things go.

The last time I was at the strip I shaved .4 off my best 60 ft. and 1/8th but we were only running an 1/8 since it was so wet. Plus, I've added 15 hp since then and I'm looking at adding another 10-15hp soon. So, those 4 tenths plus another 25-30 hp should get me into the mid 13s.

Low 13's wont happen without FI - at some point you hit the limit for an NA motor. Unless you stroke it out to 4.3 litres or cut 600 pounds off it in which case you should just build a race car.

Before headers and with my old exhaust, I was running consistent 13.8's (on some old, crappy 16" BFG slicks off a Rustang) - and I'm a 5AT!!!

I would guess with a nice set of slicks I could hit 13.7 now, but the novelty at the track pretty much wore off after the first few trips (I reached a stopping point with the engine mods, so I saw where each put me and I'm happy where I'm at now... until it's single turbo time, of course )

I think low 13s in a all motor G35 is possible, just give it some time. Maybe in a Manual, but an automatic maybe harder to do. The G35 is been on the market for only 2 years. More and more aftermarket parts are becoming available for the G35. Simple bolt-ons should free up hp, and partially or gutting the car should lighten up the car for better times. For example a stock 5spd 4th gen Maxima runs about a 15.1, a buddy of mine Neal has numerous mods to his 4th gen and his best run in his Max is a 13.5 i believe. That's a second and a half fast than a stock 5spd 4th gen Max. I know the Maxima and the G35 are different cars, but its possible one way or another.

neal's maxima was a freak though. But there are several other 4th gens running very low 14's which is a full seconds gain from stock times.

You guys have got to be able to hit better than a 13.7. We have guys over in the Maxima community hitting low 13's, one guy hit a [email protected] Of course, he used slicks and did some weight reduction too, but none the less he was n/a. Anyway, good luck with hitting some lower times and nice cars.

Yep, high 12s in an NA Maxima with pretty minimal work. The modified intake manifold is the only "internal" mod to the motor. The car weighs 3100lbs with driver and makes 265whp/255wtq with just bolt-ons, slicks, and a deeper gear. I think low 13s should be easily attainable in the G35 6 speed and a G35 auto with a higher stall torque converter. There are stock 350Zs on slicks hitting [email protected]

The problem with the G35s is the drivers are inexperienced and don't understand drag racing as a whole. They don't realize that big rims aren't the way to getting quicker nor do they understand how to launch, vehicle prep for the track, ideal shift points, drag tires, etc. It takes skill, practice, and prep to get the most out of your car on the strip.

You make some good points, but the G35s have the very insistant VDC/TCS even with some nuetralizers done to negate them...especially the autos. The 350Zs, in some trim, don't have that BS to deal with. The Maximas...same thing. My Wife's 02 4AT SE, with less than 5K on the odemeter ran a 14.52 in 88F weather a few summers ago...bone stock...If I took it back to the track with Nittos and a broken in motor I bet 14.1s would have been possible. All of this with probably 20 less to the wheels in HP...why, well, one b/c the Drive wheels have all the weight on them in the FWD Maxes and two, b/c there is no intrusive VDC/TCS on her Max...I used the stock 17'' Bridgestones to rip 2.1 60' times in her Max, when with 16" drag radials and every bolt on there is minus headers and exhaust, I could not pull but one or two 2.1 60' times with my G35...Yes, I could go to a different stall converter, but then the car is a lot less driver friendly and that is the whole point here...to have a 4 door screamer that isn't my 87 Mustang Gt...

The thing that kills me is my 60' time - it's a little different in a Maxima that has the engine mounted over the drive wheels - it's hard to get a sub-2.0 sec 60' time in this car unless you have some serious F/I power and slicks...

My best 60' was 2.093 - a bone-stock 996 Carrera was there the same night I ran at Baytown (TX) and was cranking 1.7's all day... (the only reason I couldn't put up a better time than his 13.5) - I was spinning the slicks for God-sakes! (granted, they were pieces of Rustang ****)

WOW! That's only moderately insulting. How can you make a blanket statement like that? I've been racing for 15 years, and I know a few other G owners with a lot more experience than I.

What times have you been able to pull out of your G with all of your Maxima experience?

I think your statement applies to ALL 'inexperienced' drivers. Why don't you ask the M3 and the 5.0 Mustang that saw my taillights at the strip, even though they were running 'faster' cars?

14.50 w/ a 2.11 60-ft is my best to date. Any other stock G35x's running faster? I haven't seen any. It must be our lack of understanding drag racing as a whole......

Look--don't take my sarcasm the wrong way, but you come in here like the Maxima was the second coming, then insult the people on the board. That whole incident with "russ sucks [email protected]#$" and your other Max buddies didn't make any friends either.

Yet you suggested to someone to tighten their intake studs to 15-20 ft/lb....the FSM states 44-61 in/lb, which is closer to 5 ft/lbs.

Here, you earn respect. You don't get it by telling everyone how much everyone loves you somewhere else.

You bash mods you don't own, you tell everyone how great the Max is and how none of their mods will work on the G's. You disseminate misinformation and ill will, and then ask people to "respect" your opinion?

Expert......OK.

That is incorrect. No autos have variable exhaust timing at all.

Keep 'em coming, expert.
