I do recommend a foam gun (ie ) because as you mentioned it reduces how much contact you have with the surface. Additionally it starts to break up contaminants before you use the force/friction of your wash media. This foam gun I linked to connects to any regular garden hose with any shampoo you like. I personally love the , I use about 4 - 6 ounces and put another 4 - 6 ounces of water in the reservoir and put it on setting E for a super rich lather.

Is there a spray/foam gun that you would recommend? Our should I stay away from them? I just figure that the less touching the less chance I have of leaving blemishes on my paint.

I'm not a big fan of the wash and wax products especially if you're going to clay and polish afterwards it's just going to add more work and diminish results. For maintenance washes it may be okay but I worry about those waxes long term effect on rubber and vinyl trim. I would not spend the money on a cheap buffer, the bonnets and pads that come included are often prone to doing more harm than good. Additionally they lack the speed to really work in a polish and the main advantage of a buffer is it's ability to work in a polish. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll be happy to help.

Hey, I have been reading your thread on detailing. I was wondering your thoughts on the Armor All Wash N Wax as a product for regular washes and to use prior to clay, polish, wax... Do u know if this product is good to use after a complete detailine, ie, wont work againts other products over the paint? also was wondering if the tutle wax random orbital polisher was worth my time or if its just a piece of crap? (the 6" one; its like 30 bucks) going to be ordering a whole bunch of products off detailedimage here soon as I have the time to do a full detailing...
