Smog test Failed due to P0113

hey guys I need help here...

I need to renew my registration on May...
Since my car is 6 years old, Smog check was required.
So I went to get my Smog check yesterday, emission was fine but my car did not pass the test because of a fault code: P0113 Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input. The SES light came on few weeks ago... I checked the voltage coming from the wire, (which should be 5V) it was 4.8V... which should be < 5V w/ code P0113

I went to my friend's body shop and tried to get rid of the code, but it would come back (w/ service engine soon light) when restarting the car. Everyone around thinks there might be something wrong w/ the MAF sensor, so I swaped MAF sensor from my friend's 06 350Z, to see if the code goes away. But that didnt work either. so im assuming my MAF sensor is fine.

what could be wrong? anyone else had this problem before? Is there different sensor around intake, throttle body that might be broken?
I also own a copy of service manual, but it didnt help...
Any help would be great...

This is what I always do before I get any car smogged. You might want to give it a try.

1. Tune up (Oil Change, Spark Plugs, Air Filter, etc)
2. Fill up with high octane fuel (91 or higher)
3. Leave car running while waiting for your turn to smog

He's not looking for basic smog passing tips. He passed emissions. His car had a service engine light, automatic fail.

So you swapped the MAF tube with your friend's 06? Is the 06 MAF sensor the same as an 03? Maybe try the throttle body reset procedures.

Everything on the car is fine. Like I said, it passed emission test. But failed because of that P0113 code (which causes SES light to come on)

thanks for the advise tho!

Somewhat off topic, but did you have a plenum spacer when you smogged? If so, did the smog tech notice?

yeah we swapped it, the parts were exactly the same. I'm sure 06 MAF sensor and 03 MAF sensor are the same, even it's not, all it does is measure the air coming in thro the intake and temp of the air. I'm sure we have different ECU (because he has the Rev up engine)... but MAF sensor should be the same.

I'll try the throttle body reset tomorrow, thanks!

You may want to try resetting the ECU while you're at it.

Could be a cam position sensor.

I believe it has a different code for that.

P0113 seems so simple to fix, but no one knows about it...

Did you check the resistance on the IAT sensor per the specs in the FSM?
