After oil change, Dealer says we need more done?

Had oil change/tire rotation at local Infiniti dealer ($79 special) for my 2009 G37x automatic w/60K miles.

The paperwork says it needs
1. some hoses replaced due to leaking - agree
2. transmission fluid flushed/replaced -
3. brake fluid flushed/replaced -
4. power steering fluid flushed/replaced -

Are items 2-4 are truly necessary? I'm about to call to make appt for new hoses.

Tks!
UPDATE: I made a mistake on #4…it's not power steering fluid, but something having to do with the AWD (fluid or service, but I'm not sure as it's hubby's car & he has the paperwork)

Depends on your definition of necessary...
Can you get by without doing those flushes today...yes
However, 2-3 should be done in the near future if they haven't been flushed before.
4...never really needed unless you had a leak somewhere but might be something good to do

Nissan recommends replacing all fluids every 30K miles and checking items like hoses, belts and suspension, just to name a few! Parts like hoses and belts, you should be watching yourself for wear and having them replaced! If you live in a warm/hot area of our country like I do replacing trans fluid should be done every 2 to 3 years, more often if you put a lot of miles on your sedan! I don't often suggest going to the dealership for service, in your case with their recommendations you should! They're right!

Tks VenomGT9 - We plan on doing 2 & 3, but glad to know 4 isn't crucial as it's another $289..

1. Buy silicone hoses from Z1 and do them yourself.
2. Buy some fluid yourself, drain it cold, measure it, and then put the same amount in.
3. If you haven't done it before, I'd pay a mechanic for it.
4. You can take a turkey baster, suck out the old, and put the new fluid in.

How many miles have you driven it? I only change and replaced everything once at different times. have to go back and check the records. But i changed out my own OEM breaks and put on BBK and bleed the breaks. Upgraded the valve body and changed the trans while doing it. Power steering. Well, i never done it yet. I am pushing 80k miles and maybe i should do it. But nothing has happen to my car yet. I don't drive it hard and never had any problems with my car. Car still runs strong.

That 30k premium maint imo is just for them to make money. Yes changing fluids often will not hurt anything and will keep the car in good condition but not doing it won't hurt either. That's why it says in the service manual that not doing the premium service won't affect warranty. Why users keeps saying Infiniti wants owners to chnge all fluids every 30k miles is crazy and wasteful

Catlover, If you really want to take good care of what you drive changing some fluids more often is a great . Trans fluid should be replaced more often due to how hot it gets. Replacing it is good/cheap insurance when considering the cost of a trans! How about your radiator fluid, that needs to be replaced every couple years too! Replacing brake fluid will make your calipers last longer, again cheap insurance which also applies to power steering fluid. Fluids degrade, are you sure all yours were replaced at 30K miles? Are you aware Nissan charges 30% less than the Infiniti stealership? Compare prices, I only go to Infiniti for recalls other wise I avoid them...Gary

#2 I'd say is the one you want to stay on top of....just for insurance.

#3, you can survive for a while. but every time I flush my brake fluid, I noticed an improvement in brake performance. I live where it's humid in the summer and all that moisture in the air makes it way into the fluid and lowers the boiling point.

#4. Eh.. I wouldn't worry too much about this, but I wouldn't go 100K without at least doing the turkey baster method of swapping out the fluid.

You can never go wrong with too many fluid changes. When my car hit 50K miles, I changed out the front and rear differential fluid and transfer case fluid with mobil 1 fluid. When I hit 150K miles, I decided to change it again. All the fluids came out clean. After seeing that, i stopped worrying so much about fresh fluids in anything other than engine/trans

I do want to add, fluids degradation depend on driving style. On the 370z, some owners have reported diff fluid was really dark and gunky at 30k miles, with the magnetic plug catching a lot of shavings and thick gunk...while some other owners report fluid still looked clean with rather honey golden brown color, and the magnetic plug caught nothing.

UOA is the only way you tell.

These services are 30k miles interval. Over the remaining life of your car (say you use this car for another 60k miles, sell 120k miles), you are really only debating whether to do these either once, or this time plus the next, is it really that big of a deal?
