"VDC off" and "slip" light

Hi. I drive a 2007 G35x with 67k miles.

In the last few weeks I've noticed that a couple minutes into the drive the "VDC off" and "slip" light will turn on. Pushing the VDC off button below the steering wheel does not help. Sometimes even the red parking brake light will turn on, even though the parking brake is not active.

Any help with this issue would be fantastic. Thanks so much!

^ WHS. Add a little brake fluid but also inspect your brake pads...they are likely getting worn down.

Replace the brake pads and it won't happen again. I had the same problem. If you add fluid, when you replace the pads it will probably over flow.

This happens when your brake fluid is low. I know from experience.

Yes but that is only if you compress the calipers with the bleeder screws closed. You really should crack the bleeder screw and bleed that fluid out when compressing the calipers. It saves your abs system from getting trash backflushed into it and gets rid of some of the old, broken down, overcooked, fluid. But either way, they probably need new pads so your point stands

Anyways check brake fluid level, check brake pads then check tires. Come back to us when you're done

Uhmm, guys . . . it's not uncommon at all to be able to get another 10k -15k miles out of your brakes after those lights come on. Top up the reservoir, use the brakes for another year or so, and then just siphon (turkey baster) the extra fluid out when the brakes actually NEED changing (Which btw, is fairly standard procedure when doing a brake job; no big surprise there!). Basically what I guess I'm getting at, is DON'T use the 'low fluid causing idiot light illumination' symptom to determine when your brake pad life is gone. I can practically guarantee there's a substantial amount of life remaining well beyond when all the idiot lights go off on the dash.

You're not serious right? Lolol.

Dam I'm soooo tired of seeing this thread topic come up! Research people. It's a warning for low brake pads or fluid. Change your brakes and you'll be fine

Ok, so if you are saying IT IS worn (low) pads or (the resulting low) fluid, why then are you mocking him if he is serious ?!!

Since he SHOULD
check his brake fluid, your post makes no sense.

(And again, just because those lights go off doesn't mean you are ready for new pads yet. There's usually still lots of pad life left; just top off the fluid.)

i was just being succinct, since yes, this topic comes up often. obviously if your brake fluid is low, you should check the wear on your brake pads, yada, yada, yada...

This is retarded. This same thing happened to me and I topped off the brake fluid and drove for another 10k. Then I wanted to upgrade my rotors to slotted so I did a full brake job. When I took my pads out, I still had AT LEAST, 10k more life left on the original pads.

The answer is, top off your brake fluid.

Wasn't this answered (again) nearly 2 weeks ago?

Oh, and top off your brake fluid. You should also inspect your brake pads just to be sure they are ok but they are probably fine for quite a bit more driving.
