G35x Vs. G35 Sedan Sport

Hey all,

I'm in the market for a '07+ G35 and am looking into the benefits of both the G35x and the Sport model. I live in Kansas City so I have to put up with all 4 seasons. Is the AWD a huge benefit/is the RWD G35 all that bad? Does anyone have the Sport or heard much about it?

I would be getting an automatic if that makes a difference. Too many hills and stop lights/traffic where I live currently.

Thanks for your help!

Jordan

I haven't looked into those, but that would be a great option. It may be a bit out of my budget though.

If i'm not mistaken, there's nothing "S" about the xS --- you don't get the LSD or the larger brakes to say the least.

OP, many who have the X have been happy with their rides. There are also several who have the Sport and live in snowy climates who, too, have been happy with their rides.

I have an 08xS. Have to say to date it's been a great vehicle. Much sportier feel and handling imo than a plain x.

While the xS doesn't have limited slip differential or bigger brakes it does have many of the things that are part of a rwd sport package.

Has:
Sport Seats
Thigh extension supports (driver & pass)
18" wheels A/S performance radials
Aluminum pedals
Sport front end
DH shifter
Shift paddles
Sport stitching on steering wheel

Suggest you shop and drive both. Think you'll be pleasantly surprised how nice the xS version of the G is and will want to pick one up.

are you planning on getting an exhaust? They don't make as many exhausts for the X as they do for the S

Thanks for everyone's input. I think most of the mods I'll end up doing will be pretty simple cosmetic with maybe an intake. The info about exhausts on an X is helpful though. Thanks.

Do pretty much all of the G's come with the bose sound system? Is the standard system pretty good by itself?

Only the G's with the Premium package come with Bose audio, the non-Bose audio is surprisingly good and loud since there is no Bose amp to limit that but is not as 'crisp' as Bose.

I have a S and i live in canada where i could get 50cm of snow and -40C outside. all i do is put winter tires on my car and let it slide, it's all about how well you can handle your car. even tho a x would be much better in this weather, but i wouldn't trade mine for an x. and when summer roles around, i would be laughing

I'm in the same boat as theaudir8fan, I live in a Minneapolis suburb, we have 80"+ and counting this winter, and my rwd G35 with winter tires is fairing just fine. I had an IS300 with winter tires- same deal.

Put winter tires on any car and it will make it go in the snow.

Rwd did it for me.

The thing is, it's hard to justify putting snow tires on around this part of the country. The snows is too inconsistent. A vast majority of the winters are dry, but we do get a few heavy snows. They just don't typically last very long. I have an '08 G35xS and love it. Besides handling snow very well, it also handles muddy country roads very well, which i traverse from time to time.

OP, what part of KC do you live? You mentioned a lot of hills, which might make the X the better choice.

Funny you ask... I'm at KU right now actually. Rock Chalk!

The hills are horrible around campus.
