Electronic Exhaust Cutouts

Heard a couple of V36 Gs with straight pipes in person and loving it. Whats better than have straight pipes? Having it when you want it.

Wondering if anyone has tried these on there Gs? More specifically there G sedans.

They have an option for 2.5" pipes, $360 shipped.

Also, for those who have... Im planning to put these on the lease, so I dont want to weld them on... how'd you guys do it? Im guessing you can buy aftermarket high flow cats and weld those on before or after the cat.

Art

p.s. searched, nothing.

I've used a DMH Performance e-cutout on my coupe. Loved it. I regret selling it all the time.

I'm not very familiar with the design of your stock exhaust, but I would weld it into your mid-pipe. Just buy a used mid-pipe later from someone who has gone with an after market catback.

Dude, it's not just test pipes you're getting then, you'll be running either stock exhaust, or just headers at that point, so no muffler no resonators nothing, the path is header cats, resonator, mufflers out or Headers Out. It's gonna sound nothing like a g with tests because with this set up you're not getting the header test pipe resonator muffler route.

You think I would have any engine trouble as far as tuning... maybe leaning out the motor and blowing something?

I would have wanted to put the cutouts after the cats but its not really an option unless I want to chop up the stock exhaust which I cannot do because its a lease and I don't want to buy another stock exhaust. Open headers it is

Don't get one, after a while the cutout won't close all the way, giving you a very annoying drone.

If you do get one and you're running it at the track, I'd imagine your best bet is to leave it closed at launch and open it up as you start running at the higher RPM's.

i know, right, to keep the correct amount of backpressure?

(are you nuts?)

the only thing you should be doing after you launch is shifting, and keeping the car out of the wall.

...yeah I guess that would be kinda hard if you have a manual.

And I was referring to drag racing. G's don't make enough torque to drive you into a wall.

You may lose power with those on a stock car. The car will not have enough back pressure and believe it or not this can cause a loss. I'm betting around a 15hp loss or more. If you were pushing 400hp on a car thats modified it may help. It will just be loud and sound raspy. My friend had them on a ls1 trans am and went from 13.2 1/4 mile to a 14.1.

Loss of power is not a huge issue, since its a lease and I cant really do anything (FI, etc.) just making it sound/look good is really my only option.

The only issue/worry I have is leaning out the engine and blowing it or something.

The only mods would be this, Eibach drop, and spacers.
