Another update! (I know you were waiting for one lol)

Finally got the power steering in with a bit of persuasion aka a rubber mallet and decided to attach the ac compressor next.

Well that didn't go so well. My wife got home around the time I started and walked into the home but left the door open and our lovely dog decided to run to me and jump on me smh lol. When he jumped I lean backed and landed on (you guessed it) the high pressure ac line. Sigh.

So now with the green cloud floating in the air and the hyper dog I just gave up for the day lol. Guess I'll be buying a new ac line

Pic of hyper dog

And this miniscule bend smh

If ya zoom in you can see the smallest crack of all time

It's alive!

It's also loud (open headers)

And I have a p300 code so I'm assuming the wires are crossed

But! It's alive!

There's a number of things that can give the P0300, I'd wait until the exhaust is hooked up before tearing into that trouble code unless it is something obvious like having the coil packs installed in the wrong order. I don't -think- unrestricted exhaust can cause that but you never know, zero backpressure does wierd things to valve timing so... affects ignition timing.

Hyper dog! Adorable. And quite pleased with him/her self.

Super congrats on the progress. Really, this is about the shortest (time) swap thread I think I've seen on the forum, given you're doing it in the driveway. I think I saw one with Conissah's boss they did in a weekend or something, but they had a full shop to work with. So, no comparison! Nice one.

Thanks! I will say it's not really difficult just a bit time consuming if you don't have a few days Ryu dedicate to it. Hopefully I'll be driving it this weekend.

Also does anyone have an image of the coil pack wiring?

Small update, figured out my misfire, wires were crossed. Reattached the cats andnl exhaust. Went to start it and remembered the battery was dead. Went to the local auto shop to have them charge it and apparently it won't accept a charge. Blah. So now today I'm heading to Costco to get another under warranty. It's always the simplest things.

All is well folks. Car performed great. It's overheating but I'll rectify that this evening. Other than that I'm stumped on how to route the hood latch cable and this connection on the passenger side by the washer pump

Any closing thoughts you want to add now that the project is essentially done? Glad to see you're back on the road again

Hmmmm

The swap itself isn't really difficult and can be done with basic mechanical knowledge. Just plan ahead and label and bag screws and take note of ten connections and where they go. The harness itself does a great job of showing you where things go.

I'm just happy to be back on the road without paying the shop 😊

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask!

Hey man, I saw your comment in my thread but I thought I'd ask you a couple questions here instead. You did a direct swap, revup to revup right? Also, do you know anything about how the process would be different in a 6 speed? Tranny and engine at the same time?

Yup mines was a direct swap but I have the non revup model. I wouldn't imagine the 6 speed being any different. You can take the engine and trans out connected or just remove the engine.

Helps to have two people if you're mating the engine to a still-installed transmission.

If it's just you, pull the motor, separately drop the transmission, install the motor, install the transmission. I've found this is the easiest way to one-man install.

This is true! The two attached is a pain with one person and not recommended if it's your first time doing a swap.

1500 mile update!

Car has been running great since the swap, hasn't burned one drop of oil and performs better than my previous engine 😊
