Best "budget" stock tire for 2006 G35x sedan?

I know full well that you get what you pay for in life, but is there such a thing as a good quality, well-performing "budget" stock tire (215/55/r17) for my '06 G35x sedan?

The car is currently running on Kumho Ecsta 4x which were fair-to-ok with quality, performance and value at the time. I'm now considering Ohtsu FP7000, Antares Ingens A1, Solar 4XS, Douglas Performance SL and Delinte Thunder D7.

Are any of those tires worth serious consideration? Due to financial issues, the age/mileage of the car, I want to get away as inexpensively as possible without sacrificing too much in the way of quality and performance.

Input regarding these or any other budget tire is greatly appreciated....thanks.

I wouldn't buy any of the tires you listed. I understand budget but remember tires are one of the most important safety features on your car. I suggest the BF Goodrich gForce Comp 2 AS. Fabulous tire, UHP all season and just over $100 each depending where you look. HTH

All the safety systems in the car - ABS, Trac control, stability control, braking performance, suspension, power, handling, etc...are transmitted to the pavement through four tiny patches of rubber.

Really in your better interest to invest in these before all else.

Look into the Goodyear Eagle Sport A/S tires. I have them on my Accord, will put them on my G35 when I need tires. Grippy, quiet, getting close to 50k miles out of them on my Accord. Not really expensive either.

I meant to say this before but never got around to it. If you get the antares ingens A1 you might as well just veer into the next lane. Sidewall is paper thin and all the ratings are **** poor. It's a walmart brand tire and made for economy cars. I'm sure the other tires are just as bad.

My '06x had new Kumho Ecstas on it when I bought it (dealer installed). It actually is kind of the tire that you are talking about with acceptable performance and quality and at a reasonable price. Check the reviews. I wouldn't go with the no-name tires you listed.

Another option is Ohtsu tires. They are made by Falken and basically whenever they come out with a new version of a tire, they rebrand the old version as an Ohtsu. Since the molds have paid for themselves by that time, they can sell them for less. That's what I currently have on my G35. Ohtsu 612s which have the same tread pattern as the previous Falken 612s. They are fine for a touring tire, very quiet, excellent in the rain but turn-in is a touch mushy.

I dont know if this will help or not, but I had Kuhmo Escta 4X on my 18" stock sport rims on my 2005 G35 6MT (Non-X) sedan with about 65% tread left and I swapped them out for General G-Force A/S 03 tires (about $625 installed) and I like the Generals MUCH better. They are about 5 lbs lighter than the Kuhmos per tire so I immediately noticed faster acceleration, quicker/nimbler handling and slightly better braking as soon as I pulled out of parking lot at tire store, and gas mileage has improved. After a couple thousand mile on them now, they are great and have nice grip and work in snow. I have driven them this past week in michigan snow storm with no problems what so ever! The car drives pretty good in the snow, better than I thought. I just got the car in June 2016 so this was my first snow test. Just turn off VDC!! This car is soooo easy to drift in parking lots, so much fun and easy to control. Hope some of this info helps someone.

What size are people putting on? I also have an 06x and have 235/50R17 Goodyear Eagle F1's that need replaced.

Any reason not to stick with that size?

I ran the OE 215/55/17 size simply because I drove it through the snow, and narrow tires are preferred otherwise I would have gone with a bit wider rubber like you did

I'm starting to look at the BRIDGESTONE POTENZA S-04 POLE POSITION in 235/50R17. I think the Comp 2 a/s also look good, but I really want a summer tire. I have another set of wheels with Blizzak snow tires on them for winter. I want to take full advantage of a summer tire on my X.

Konsole, when buying tires there is something you really missed when considering the above B-Stones, wear factor! (UTQG) Soft tires, those with UTQG from 100 to just below 300, they're great on the track or if you have deep pockets! Summer tires with a UTQG of 300 should last 25K to 30K miles depending on your driving style and ability! I had those Poll Position B-Stones on my last Z, they were great even in driving rain with amazing traction but they were gone at 10K miles! Check thetirerack.com for wholesale prices on tires with a rating of 300, I run nothing but Michelin Super Sports...my choice and they've never let me down!
