FTL mobile 1 ATF is illegal in sweet ol' California... Would royal purple work as. Dextrin 3 substitute? Or what else should I get?

Anything that's Dexron III compatible will work. Read what the fluid you want to buy is compatible with, it will be labeled on the bottle

I was at Autozone and I couldn't find any power steering fluid compatible with Nissan. I didn't see the M1 ATF either, but I'm not sure if I want to use ATF for power steering. Can anyone recommend a power steering fluid for Nissans you can find at a local store?

Thanks

Nissan power steering fluid is dextron 3 ATF. Your basic "power steering fluid" is basically ATF...but true ATF is a more superior fluid.

Only manufacturer that requires a dedicated fluid for power steering is Honda because of seals leaking. But they are the exception to the rule. Most others use some grade of ATF....d3, d6, type f, etc.

Any d3 ATF will work...doesn't even need to be synthetic. Mobil 1 just happens to be one of the best ATFs

Yea, I was about to say.

On any power steering bottle I dont even think they list compatibilities.

If you want just go to Nissan and buy the fluid there. They will probably hand you over ATF.

No wonder! I kept on seeing bottles that said for Honda/Acura vehicles, so I was thinking there was a special one for Nissans. I will look for Dextron 3 ATF fluid.

By the way it is DEXRON not DEXTRON. There is no "T". I searched for DEXTRON and I couldn't find anything...lol.

Thanks

What's the deal with M1 ATF? Anyone know? I'm looking at getting the Amsoil ATF which is Dexron 3 compatible. It is also $3 cheaper than M1 ATF and it is synthetic just like M1 ATF.

either one will work...

mobil 1 or amsoil ATF is good. mobil1 redid their formula for ATF, it used to include honda ZF ATF but now the new bottles dont have it. Its still 100% good for american stuff which is Dexton/Mercon. Spell it however you need to spell it to get it right LOL.

You can also use Redline D4 and walmart brand synthetic ATF as well, all are going to be the same, just your wallet is going to feel it.
