M45 engine bay cover on a G35?

I was looking at this picture of a M45 engine bay and saw some similarities to the G35. For example the battery covers or locations seem the same, the windshield wiper fluid location seems the same. I'm sure it won't be an exact fit but with a little dremel action who knows. I don't have the time or the money to polish this or wire tuck that. I thought this would be a cool way to clean up our engine bays. Maybe even color match it.

So what do you think? Have I missed something obvious that would explain why nobody has done this yet?

i can't see that working.

the main thing is that we have a V6, that cover is for a V8. the intake plenum is totally different between the two. you would have to remove the "V8, 4.5" letters because we have a V6, 3.5. the oil filler is on the wrong side.

that's just to start.

I think what he ment were the panel covers surrounding the engine. Not the engine cover

Is the engine bay bigger on a M45 vs an M35? If it is, go with the M35 if you're going to go for it. The only way to truly find out if it will work is to do it

DO IT!

That's not a bad idea. i wouldn't mind doing that at all myself. Would be curious to know the answer as well.

you might be right, who knows? if so, personally i hate the plastic, shrouded engine bays where you can't see anything but black covers. as a car guy i like to actually see the mechanics of an engine bay, it is much more interesting to look at.

Beats doing a wire tuck

Yep, and looks clean, but I would def want to do that sometime. I might tackle that project myself when I'm bored. It will be a long process but I have plenty of time lol. But I'd surely take wire tuck over plastic covers.

I work at a Lexus dealer, and all of the 2009-10 Lexus vehicles have the black plastic coverings surrounding the engine cover. IMO the "covering" look is impressive to the average Joe, but for us enthusiasts / DIY'ers it kills the theme under the hood.

We'll never know if we don't try. I called the dealership about the surrounding pieces some time ago and it was like $40-$50. I'll give it a try soon and I'll update and post pics. Don't know an M35 / M45 owner to test fit first, so if anyone does it would be a big help to post results.

Yeah thats what I thought when the rep told me. There could have been a miscommunication on eactly what pieces we were talking about. I'm working on getting an exact quote.

Couldn't get a quote without a VIN number. (M45 Part) & I drive a G35 Sedan. So if there is any M45 owners out there that wouldn't mind calling Riverside Infiniti parts desk and PM that (part #) info, you would be the sheit. Or is there another way I can go about it?
