Regular WRX runs a 5.7 0-60?

My friend bought a subaru WRX, not the STI, and looking up 0-60 times for it on the internet yeild a 0-60 time of 5.7 second? Can this be true? Doesn't the g35 coupe only get around 6 seconds?

So if this is true, how can it be? The G35 has way more HP and a non-allwheel drive drive train. I believe they weigh about the same... Maybe the transmition of the WRX is gear for acceleration?

Yes, its true. They run like a low 14 1/4 mile stock too. With mild mods, they are forced to be reckoned with...

WRX is much lighter. It's all about the power/weight ratio!

whats all the extra weight doing in the g35 then? Adding luxery?

And so now if I race my buddy, do you think he'd win stock for stock with equally good shifting? Or does the G35 out perform the WRX at higher speeds? Still its disappointing that a mere WRX, not even an STI, can take us. I gotta start saving up for that APS single turbo kit, lol.

From what I have heard, the WRX and STi suck at high speeds.

If your buddy in his WRX has a manual and can shift right, he can probably take you from a launch, maybe just barely. Still, those things have a terribly rough ride when compared to the G35, and its ugly as sin with garbage interior. See how many chicks are impresed with the WRX compared to the G35

Extra weight on the coupe comes from reinforcement beams in the B-pillar. Those had to be used cause we have open-frame doors - i.e. no reinforcement frame around the door windows.

AWD will kill RWD in a launch, if done properly.... unless the RWD car has super fat slicks and a driver with enough skill to control wheelspin off the line.

That's why all these guys are able to get Eclipse GSX's and Talon TSI's to run low 12's with only slight turbo upgrades. There's a guy who races on the drag strip, autocross and also short oval tracks with his first generation Eagle Talon. The thing is sick fast, and runs high 9's to low 10's on a regular basis, and his tires aren't even that wide(he does have a stage 2 race motor, a lot of boost, and other mods as well).

This is the guys car:

I owned an '02 WRX, somewhat modded. From a dead start AND A PROPER LAUNCH (which isn't as easy as it sounds), it will easily keep up with a G35 to 60. Somewhere in there, the G will begin to gain ground on it, since the AWD will become a liability rather than an asset.

Having said that, do many dragstrip launches in a WRX, and you will eventually destroy your tranny.

My WRX (with STi injectors, VF34 turbo, remapped, no cats, etc) would eat my G35 for dinner in most speed ranges, I'm sorry to say. I kinda miss the 17psi surge at 4000 rpms.

WRX faster:
WRX has a blower with mean you will have turbo lags. If your turbo the G35 you could probably match the STI if not suppressing it's performance stat. I guess we will find out with the GTR?

STI handling:
I do recall hearing about STI not being stable at high speed, but I believe the high speed they were referring to is over 3 digit. I really don't know how cars handle over 100 mph+ because I never cornered above those speeds. Can anyone comment about the G or STI at those speeds?

At 325HP and 19PSI, my '97 GSX would leap from the line and manage to break traction at all four corners at about 5800-6000RPM, just before you shifted to 2nd (at 6500). AWD allowed it to leave much more powerful cars behind as they spun their tires to try to catch up after my launch. AWD can play a HUGE factor, as it almost always did for me.

I had several people tell me, at different times, that they'd never seen a street car take off that fast from a stop. For first-time passengers, they instinctively tried to grab something (console, door, etc.) half way through that 1st gear pull after a hard launch. It never got old.

Yep, my WRX was putting out somewhere around 320hp at the crank; 1st gear pulled brutally.

Now let's quit talking about this; it makes me want FI for my G, and I don't have the money.

Might I add your seat motors, engine itself, possible the rims as opposed to the stock WRX, radio/Nav portion...
