Amuse splitter on Nismo bumper - progress / built

I've always been a huge huge fan of the Amuse 350z front end and particularly the splitter. In addition I've started tracking my car heavily and have been a bit upset about the lack of functional splitters for our cars....so I made one.

Started of with a new fiberglass Amuse splitter I ordered from Shine Auto Project a few months ago and started cutting it up. Below are the pics of how it went:

3rd VERSION (4/10/2014):
Took some comments, played with photoshop, and cut off the endplates/side edges, and repainted in plastidip temporarily. Went to the track on 4/6, did a test run, everything held nicely and the front end felt better planted with slightly less understeer. If I trim anymore it will be to make the front lip a bit shorter, next step after that is to make this in CF.

snip and trim:

2nd VERSION (11/25/2013):
in progress/testing/fitting/trimming:

1st VERSION (9/16/2013):
First test fit:

Cutting/trimming:

Fiberglass and 2-part urethane foam used to fill in the gaps. The foam was sanded down and then 3-4 layers of fiberglass on top all sanded down:

Cheers
Mario

I applaud all of your effort in putting this together. It's refreshing to see people doing their own thing and not being a sheep and following the masses.

That being said I'm not a fan of the look. For me it's too busy for the clean front end of a coupe and really looks out of place. But if you're happy with the final result that's all that matters, who cares what we think.

It's a little too big and pointy on the sides for my taste, but congrats on the cool idea and work doing it yourself

My suggestion is you sell the G35 and get a 350z.

I agree. I'm ll for being unique. It looks great on the z, but kinda ruins the g. Maybe if it were painted. I know sometimes when its left black it looks larger in pics than in real life. Kinda reminds me of a bat mobile though.....

That splitter would probably flow better on the 06-07 sport bumper..

Amuse only looks good on the Z because the Z can pull it off with a full aggressive kit which the G35 doesn't really have.

My friend's porsche white Z with amuse front.

The nismo bumper is probably the least aggressive bumper for the G35 as well.

I'd just round the edges to have it flow. Great attempt at something new. I'm sure you'll get it to work

I've grown very fond of my G and as nice as the amuse 350z is, I still think the G is one of the best coupe designs to come out of Japan.
Besides by that logic I might as well disregard both the Z & G and just get the Porsche I've been eyeballing lately instead of modifying a car....but where's the fun in that

thanks and yea I'll try. I'll definitely fill in the parts under the side vents where it meets the bumper to start and go from there.

Well it seems that you're modding for autocross and even though these cars aren't that great, the Z would be better for that.

And lol the Porsche comment.
