Angry 2004 G35 Engine shuts off w/Service Engine Soon, Slip and VDC OFF on dash

Hey, so here's my ishty situation..

My car is a 2004 G35 coupe with 160,000 Kilometers and I just had my oil changed.. right now the only issue with my car is that the brakes & rotors are way over due for a change (which mayy be the problem)

.. after 25 minutes of 'spirited' driving on the highway from downtown to uptown Toronto, my "Service Engine Soon" light, along with the "Slip" light AND and the light that says " VDC OFF" all came on and the engine immediately shut off.. I could turn it on again however i can only get around 5 minutes or less of driving out of it before it shuts off again.

Aside from possible solutions to this, would you guys recommend i take this to the Infiniti Dealership or Active Green Ross to get it diagnosed and repaired????

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Hey JaE35.. looks like you were right! ...the dealership is quoting me 300+tax to replace the sensors... I'm thinking either to call around to local mechanics to get a cheaper quote OR follow this:

Thanks again!

Hey Nismo, thanks for the part numbers. I'm going to pickup my car from the dealership now.

Quick question: Will the diagnostic that the dealership ran tell me which sensor is malfunctioning or will I have to replace both?

Thanks again!!!!

Its better to replace both sensors. you want to avoid any more hassle and you car stalling. I just got my sensors replaced. both sensors should cost no more than $120 at Autozone or Oreilly's.

If the code is a p0340 then the sensor is the 23731-6j90b which is on the back of the passenger side head,if the code is p0345 then the sensor is the 23731-al61a which goes on the back of the driver side head...

2004 G35 VDC SLIP SES lights on

Hi,

I have recently ran into this issue with my G35 when my car died as I was driving off work due to me not disengaging the clutch completely because I was busy trying to get my iPod going. I attempted to start it with no success, until about 10-sec of cranking it the car started but all three mentioned lights came on. The car felt ok so I drove it home Monday and then back to work the next day with it wanting to stall on my way to work in the morning. I read this thread on Monday night and followed the DIY for replacing the cam sensors tonight after buying both sensors from NAPA. But to my surprise the car started right up and I let it idle for a minute before turning it off and restarting after ten seconds and guess what! All three lights came back after cranking it for 10-sec because it would not start right up even though it had the first attempt after successfully replacing the sensors. So what is going on? What else do all the three lights mean? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

There are 3 sensors that you need to replace to make sure this problem doesn't come back. Two for the cams that are on the back of the motor behind the intake and the crank position sensor that you have to jack up the car to get to. The crank sensor is easy to change once you have the car jacked up. The cam sensors are a bit of a pain, but to make the job easier, know that you don't HAVE to remove the intake. If you use a tiny 1/8" drive ratchet with an extension and I believe an 8 or 10 mm socket, you can remove and replace the sensors without removing the intake.
