Either pipes cooling off, or a stone/pebble stuck in your heat shield. That's what I had atleast.

If it lasts for more than say...10 seconds...its most likely Slick's call on the pipes cooling down. As the metal cools it tends to tick for a little bit, nothing to worry about.

Yeah I normal pipe cool down. But I actually had a pebble stuck in the heat shields or wherever, and i think because the pipes were so hot they pop the rock up every 5 seconds, it was like on cue! Almost perfectly timed. I took to dealership and they got rid of the rock.

I think most cars do this. My truck and fathers truck both do this as well (V8 5.4L Fords) but my mothers V6 Cherokee doesn't do it as much or as loud.

When metals get hot they expand, once they start to cool off they retract which makes that ticking sound. it's normal.
