Just wanted to post in here as I'm getting close to the 105k mile spark plug change. I believe the dealership that inspected my new to me 2006 G35 at sedan said that the passenger side valve cover was starting to leak. He didn't specify if it was this type of issue or if it was a valve cover gasket leak.

I tried clicking on a couple of links in this thread and they are broken, fyi.

When I changed mine, I had oil in plug 1, and there was a lot of it.

I know I'm late to the party, but is it the valve cover gasket or is it the valve cover? I call Baker Infiniti and they want to charge 1085.00 + tax and that's does not even include changing the spark plugs.

The valve cover.
The spark plug tube seals are built into the valve cover which makes them non removable and non replaceable. A pair of valve covers is $3-400? And it doesn't take much more than a couple hours to change - at the very most. An hour with the tools available to the shop.

I will find someone else to do it instead of Stealership. I might has well replace the plugs while I'm at it.

You can get new O Rings from PartsGeek and replace them. It does involve a 1 7/8" hole saw to cut the old O Rings out of the valve covers. The baffle plate will now no longer hold the O Ring in place so you have to put silicon on the O Ring and press in place. Let the silicon dry and then reinstall the valve cover. O Rings cost 16 to 18 dollars, better than 200-300 dollars for new valve covers. Hey it's your money but for a minor bit of work it is worth the savings to me.

Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep and Mitsubishi V6's are the absolute worst with how they situate the plugs on their vehicles motors. Most of them require removal of half the head to get at the rear 3 on their V6 FWD vehicles, and even the 4 Cylinder Jeep motors aren't that easy to change with the way they're setup with the intake mannifold and throttle body directly over the rear 2 plugs and requiring it be completely removed.
I changed mine without a guide or prior research, the number one thing that gave me issues was the harness being in the way even when unbolted. The driver side, where #6 is in the video posted, was the easiest side for me.
