G35 bolt on mods

Im kinda confused here because i got 50% of people telling me the g35 does not respond well to bolt ons and that you can only pick up like 10-12 WHP with I/H/E spacer.... and the other half of people are telling me that with a tune and all the bolt ons a g35 can put down 325 at the crank Which is true? Are bolt ons like Intake Headers Exhaust spacer and a tune really worth it on the g35?

I am definitely not an expert on this, but here is what I determined during my researching. The G35 is already set up pretty good from the factory. Yeah, you can get some small gains depending on what year you have and what mods you do. My 05 would benefit from the spacer and MREV2 lower plenum. Intake is for looks and sound. Forced Induction is the real power adder for these cars. Of course, after the mods you would need a tune to get the most benefit. I decided that FI was out of budget and the other gains were not worth the money to me. Also, I have extended warranty that I don't want to battle dealership over if something ever came up. I am not going to "de-mod" the car just to get it looked at by the dealer. So I am saving the money for later project. Just my opinions and you will find many others with varying opinions.

Oh yeah, the SEARCH function is going to give you a lot of info.

it depends on your definition of "worth it" intake, headers, spacers, exhaust, mrev2, plus tune can easily cost up towards $5k and you won't even break 300whp. So if you think a bit under 300 is worth it for 5k then its worth it.

a lot of people dont think its really worth it to drop so much money when you could have saved towards fi instead and gotten way more gains. Either way, FI or NA, its going to be very expensive. NA just lets you do it in smaller steps.

just get a 5/16 spacer, exhaust and a tune... you'll be happy w/that.

From what I've seen here over the years, very few claims are supported with posted Dyno sheets. I think if you did ALL of these, you could get up around 325 hp.

I do remember seeing dyno evidence for about 10 HP each from-
adding a plenum spacer $200
adding a Stillen intake box $200
adding exhaust system $1000-2000

Not sure about adding a tune or chip at any of these levels of mod, but I'm sure it couldn't hurt. Real power gains will come from FI.

Adding a spacer, intake and exahaust will not get you anywhere near 325hp, not even close to 300hp.

Only bolt ons worth adding are plenum spacer, exhaust, and maybe a pop charger w/ z-tube. If you have a Rev-Up engine, add the mrev as well.

Welcome, confused....=)

I'd be confused too if I came on here and read all these opinions, and that's what they are....opinions. If you do enough research doing a few selected bolt on mods will increase HP that you can feel, more seat of the pants than dyno. Depending on what year G you have and even where you live makes a difference. Florida for example, either they don't have laws or no one enforces them. Our members there do things I would be put in jail for here in CA....Ouch! All year G35's will benefit from plenum spacers, intakes and exhaust, '05+ does very well with MotorDynes MREV2 and 5/16" spacer....that's an easy 10+HP. Attend some of our meets in your area, then you can talk to other members and get an idea what you'd like to do.
Good Luck....Gary

It probably would at the crank, most of the guys on here probably don't know these cars only make like 220 to the wheels lol

325 to the crank is feasible… when its all said & done, on avg its $100 per hp…. There are a few mods that are better than avg bang for the buck and will be much less than $100 per hp – but you won’t get to 325 crank hp with only those mods.

BTW, it all depends on what dyno you use… dynos can vary widely… but regardless of what dyno, gains are still going to avg $100 per hp in most cases (after the easy stuff is done).

someone on the forum has 275whp NA i forgot who there name was,

well if you want to go near or over 300whp NA

Full exhaust(catback exhaust,testpipe or hfc,headers)
MD Spacer
Intake(whichever one, they net you almost the same)
Cams
Grounding Kit
Stillen Engine Dampner
Valve Body Upgrade
torque converter(2800-3300 stall)
Upgrade Final Drive(3.7 or 3.9 gears) with LSD(Quaife)
Tune

Idk 6k-8k estimated? So its up to you whether its worth it or not. You wont need to deal with the hassles of FI (blown motor) but FI gives you way more. So in the end its up to you.
