g35 electric or clutch fan for cooling????

On my g35 which is 03 I have a clutch fan and one fan for ac condenser.
Is there a reason that all G35s after 03 have two electric fans instead of one ?
Is not clutch fan more eficient at drawing air?
Can I take the clutch fan ot and replace with electric ones?

My 03.5 has only 1 electric as well. I took the clutch fan out 1 1/2 years ago just to see what would happen. Guess what? The car runs fine without it and the electric kicks in when it needs to. Never had the slightest overheat or anything else. Engine revs quicker without the belt driven too. Keep in mind, I live in the NW where it rarely gets above 85F so if you're in Phoenix, forget it. I have also added a remote tranny filter/cooler to negate the effect of any increased coolant temp.

Safest bet is to replace the clutch fan with electric and people have done it. Search. Just wanted to let you know its not really needed, but depends on where you live.

I just saw you are in Sioux Falls. Man, you don't need no stinking extra fan. That's cold country.

ballisticus. You just removed the fan assy? Can you still use the oem pulley? Or do you need a 03.5+ pulley?

I just removed the fan from the idler pulley. You have to add a washer or two to make up the thickness lost from the fan mounting face, but I just used a normal washer against the pulley followed by a lock washer, then the OEM nut. Works fine, probably good for a few HP I guess.

When the electric fan is on, I can feel the hot air coming through the engine radiator pretty strong so it is definitely removing heat from the coolant. 90's in Sioux Falls huh, didnt know it got that hot there. I went though there in the winter a few years back and never would have thought it possible.
