T3T4 Turbo? Good idea?

Can anyone tell me anything about using a T3T4 turbo kit? I have an opportunity to buy a used one... What do I need to know to help me decide if its a good idea? Will my car suffer from turbo lag? Would I really get a big increase in performance? Will I need to spend money upgrading all sorts of other stuff so it doesn't damage my G?

Any advice, feedback, or suggestions would be great! Please take a moment to share some of your knowledge!

Btw, I have an 03 6MT DG coupe, with Amuse Titan exhaust, and AEM intake.

**Edit** Sorry, I'm a noob poster and accidently put this in the SEDAN section instead of the COUPE section... no idea how to move it..

Is it just the turbo? WHat about supporting mods? Yes you will need some.

Turbo's require some pretty good knowledge in terms of how the system works and how to tune it. Without that, you run the potential of some serious engine damage.

There are 200 different types of t3t4's? That is just the housing sizes? find out what the ar. is on them and what mm? Also there are 46mm all the way to super60's Call or e-mail the seller and ask some of those question's and let us know buddy. Also the ar. is stamped on both sides of the turbo hot and cold side. t3 is the cold side and t4 is the hot side. hope some of this helps then we can figure out the comp map and see whats up.

Actually, it's not just the housing size..the compressor and turbine wheels are also classified as T3,T04E,T04B,GTxx,etc. wheels. It's a family of turbos, not a specification.

yea I agree with you on that and the t3/t4 saying is very generic. but none the less more info on the turbo is needed.

Not that simple. You need to match the turbo/compressor to the Engine first.

Here are some numbers I put together for our car (VQ35DE).

Let assume there is a 2 psi lost from the pipe/FMIC. At 8psi (10psi in compressor), you will need the turbo to feed around 586CFM at 6600rpm with a single turbo and half that if you are going for twin turbo. The T3 Super 60 is going to be way small.

You need at least a T04B 60-1 trim.

Even the T04E 60 trim is going to be boarder line past 8psi.
