He's talking about the intake not the exhaust.

Thought he was talking about both since headers and intakes were put in there. Amd others were bringing up ypipes and exhausts.

I think we can all agree that any intake mods will have some impact on the exhaust tone...mostly for the better. In my opinion nothing is better than the stock sounds of a G35 coupe. It's unmistakable and a big reason a bought my G. Sounds like a Y pipe is the way to go if you want to amplify the stock tone.

When I swapped my exhaust, I couldn't pass up revving it up with only headers! It was EPIC!!! Sounded like a 1000hp muscle car

Will the G37 HR y-pipe achieve the same as a 350z HR y-pipe? (Yes they are slightly different, the openings are marginally smaller on the G37, I think by a half inch.) Will it cause more restriction than the 350z y-pipe because the openings would be smaller than the G35 DE y-pipe?

Since you live in CA., here's the solution to your problem....buy and install the Fast Intention HFCS and enjoy the sweet sound. When it comes time to register/license your G switch back to your OE cats, once the test is passed put the FIs back on and you're good for another 2 years. You need to look into a better exhaust to hear the full potential of the HFCs!

I put a Pop Charger on with Z-Tube and my G sound like a pissed off bear when I punched it. Took it off a few days later as I realized how bad my mpg's dropped. I kept punching it everywhere just to hear it roar.

^ I love the roar I have with my z-tube, pop charger filter, and 1/2 spacer.... Tho I like to have a lil more roar coming out the tail pipes. Anyone running the ART pipes with the oem Exhaust system?

I had a similar goal: increase horsepower for a reasonable price while maintaining stock engine note. I did the z-tube first with a K&N air filter, which is probably one of the cheapest mods you can do. Then I added a Motordyne plenum spacer and Y-pipe. The combination of the three gives a deeper engine sound, better pull over 3000 RPM's and a deeper exhaust note. Can be done for about a grand.

We all had that as a goal, but for someone raised on Chevy small blocks that for $500 would add 150 horsepower, this was a big surprise. A decent exhaust costs more than that.

I just wish I could hear all the different Exhaust sounds in person, but there aren't too many modded g35s rolling around in central Florida.

I agree...there's a plethora of videos out there but they did it no justice.

Brett Abelson - did you keep the stock CATs on? I'm thinking about getting the MD XZY pipe but pairing it with some ART pipes.
