Angry P0011 - Valve Timing Control Solenoid

So I've been chasing a SES light ever since Infiniti replaced my short block under the Oil Consumption TSB.

At first it was the code for the intake cam position sensor bank 1. I replaced this sensor along with the bank 2 intake cam position sensor and crank position sensor. Now I'm getting a P0011. The engine has about 2500 miles on it so I don't think that sludged oil is causing my problem.

I'm looking to replace the Intake Valve Timing control solenoid but when I removed the bolt that attaches it to the front of the engine and try pulling it out, there's 2 wires that go into the engine. I checked the bank 2 solenoid and it does the same thing.

How do I replace this solenoid to clean it/replace it?

What's a TSB? I also am getting the p0011 SES on my 2006 automatic transmission coupe. Dont have any issues with tourney on my car or anything but at idle the engine doesn seem to vibrate a litte bit and a very slight ruff idle every so often.

So what ended up happening?

I have the P0011 code being thrown; changed the camshaft bank 1 sensor and no fix, then changed the crankshaft sensor and no fix. I can't find any TSB relating to this code, care to link it?

A TSB is similar to a recall. I took it to the dealership and they ran the code and it wasn't giving the P0011 code. Apparently after removing the bolt and pulling the connector part off the engine block and then putting it all back together cleared the code for good. Now it's thowing both primary O2 sensor codes...

And I'll try to track down the TSB that I found.

Check this post out that I found on a Maxima forum.

"I have been "riding dirty" in my 2008 Nissan Maxima for 2 years because my check engine light has been on and the codes that were returning were O2 sensor codes. I spent $100's buying O2 sensors, replacing this one and that one, light never went out, so I couldnt pass the emissions test with those codes in order to get my state inspection sticker. How about, I bring it to the dealership last week, and this is after I bought an extended warranty after they confirmed my O2 sensors needed to be replaced, to make a long story short, when I return to get them replaced under the warranty, the problem was that $4 worth of fuses were bad/missing in my car. They replaced them (i had to pay the $60 labor fee, UGH), and the light went out and I passed my state inspection. I'm a bit disgusted."

Guy says that he was having the same problem with the P0011 code and then it was giving him the O2 sensor codes and all it was was a blown fuse? Anyone know what fuse it could be?

Jeez - why does this code seem to be so problematic?

Lucky you! That's what I thought mine was in the first place, and no luck. Then I changed the crank sensor and that didn't help either.

low oil level can be a cause of this - pay attention to your oil level

Oil level was in the hash marks as I just had the short locked replaced 1200 miles ago. Got the same code even after changing the oil.

So I took my car in to the dealer b/c of it rattling at start up after it's been sitting for a while and it also rattled while under a load until the engine was at operating temp.

The found that the tech that replaced my short block used a whole bunch of permatex and it was partially blocking one of the oil passages! The cleaned this up, replaced the cam gear/sprockets and timing chain tensioners.

No the light is off and I actually passed emissions testing today!!!! wooooo hooooo!

The light was on for a intake position sensor bank 1 when I got it back from the OC TSB. I shouldn't have taken it since there were no lights on when I took it in to them. I wouldn't have had to spend $300 on sensors before getting it fixed.

I getting p0011. I changed out the cam sensor was driving 135 then the eng began to sputter an knock. Gave me the same codes I had before p0011 and p0300. Changed the sensor again and symptoms got better but still there. Wondering if any wires got fried. Also have some oil in the connector.
