I need help!!!! Engine Restorer

Hello. I might have done something very stupid...

I used an Engine Restorer the one in a can manufactured by Restore Inc.
After my oil change with restorer, I did a little test drive. I noticed my car started to shake violently during idling then Engine Service Soon light came on....

I changed the oil again but it did not help... Did I destroy my engine?? What is going on?

what code(s) are you getting? If you don't have a code reader get it done at autozone/checker/etc

when you changed the oil, did you change the filter as well? Read this from another site: "it jammed up my oil filter so badly, no oil could get to the engine".

Thank you for the response!
No I do not have the reader so I will go to an auto zone tomorrow.

I checked the filter and looked clean so I did not replace it... but I regret that I didn't now...

I also switched oil filter brand from PureOne to K&N.

Could it be that? The car is not used to the high flow? I hope it's not gonna cost me a lot of money.

U put it in with your oil right?

I used to run them on my old old Honda back in the day and never had any issue with them.

Found this online. I guy with an M45 did the same thing you did. Somehow the restorer messed with the camshaft sensor.

The Restore tripped the Cam Shaft sensors...didnt need replacing tho. Still a 120 dollar mistake!
Back to normal tho!
BTW...anyone done this before on the 03/04 M? Were you successful? Did it flood the engine?

Thank you very much!
Now my car is at a dealer.
This company "Restore Inc, suppose to have a good reputation but they do not have a phone number to call on neither their product or webpage. The number I got directs me to a woman. She has been very nice to me and the situation so we'll see how it goes. I hope I am not going to need to take any legal action. My guess is they would probably pay me if it is just camshaft sensor cleaning. Finger crossed!

cam sensor cleaning. for real? you do realize that the cam sensor is just a magnetic switch. there is no cleaning besides wiping it off..... either it works or it doesnt.

Why would you use engine restorer in the 1st place???

unplug the battery to reset the computer and go from there.

I say you got a **** load of restore crap sitting on your Camshaft sensor.

Change your oil filter, clean your sensor and see if that does anything.

I was motivated by pure curiosity!! but it failed miserably.

I already reset ECU (proper procedure). It was the first thing came to my mind but it did not work.

I got an update from my dealer and the timing valve is clogged by the restorer and needs to be taken apart and cleaned.... Price is $418

I did not expect this at all.

Never use engine repair crap in the VQ. Check

Are you sure it won't work itself out? I am not an engine guy, but maybe the crap you put in to clean your engine would help??? (I.e. Oil flush)

I have used that stuff with no issue.

The mechanic said the crap I put in my engine is clogging the valve...
I don't wanna take a chance of damaging more stuff. I changed oil again but it didn't work.
