Of course, a high-performance torque converter matched to the engines power curve, the cars weight and its rear gear ratio will also make a positive difference in the performance of your TH350. A good shifter is also necessary to make the most of your automatic. Christensens final comments are that a good transmission cooler and an extra-deep, finned transmission oil pan will help keep temperatures down. That will greatly improve the durability of your TH350.

I know this is a bit of an older thread. But I just have one question for everyone who's done this mod. Did it feel like there was less power loss through the autobox at all? As in, did it feel like it accelerated harder? Or is the only thing that changes the gearshifts? I have no idea about auto gearboxes.

J coote, yes, it definitely decreases the feeling of power loss through the trans. I took my car to the track before the upgrade and lost so much time at each shift waiting for the slush box to move to the next gear. With this upgrade the shifts are much quicker so you're on to the next gear quicker and accelerating again. I'd also recommend a trans cooler being installed while you are down there.

Thanks for the reply. I've got it sitting at home, but I only read through the DIY properly the other day and didn't realise I gotta drill holes in parts to make it work. I thought I could always put it back to stock if I didn't like it, so now i'm putting it off haha.

Cause I dont drive in manual mode much and so it sounds like if i'm hooking around a long corner with foot flat, and it changes from say 2nd to 3rd, it'll step out on me. And if VDC is on it'll probly step-out a bit and then bog down as it reduces power and brakes certain wheels. This about right?

This is the best mod Ive done to my G. Ive installed 3 so far and the install is very easy if you stay organized and take your time.

Ok maybe someone can help.
So I have a 06sedan and the instruction shows a slightly different plate so I am not sure about the exact locations to be drilled.

Yes, but for my personal preference, I also lost the smoothe feel of the Automatics gear shift. It took some time to get used to the double down shift as well.

Question? I heard that with the Osiris tuner program you can change the shift pressures for the 5at coupes. What does this VB upgrade do? Can the same results be Achieved with the tuner program?

Hate to bring old threads back to life but need advise from those who got this kit. I have g35 and my tranny just failed. I pulled the codes and it seems that the valve body and the solenoids failed. Does anyibe know if this kit will be worth buyibg to put in a new vb or is there a chance that the rest of the transmission need to be overhauled?

Again, bringing an old thread back from the grave...
I just installed this kit on 12/7/13. The install was easy, given that I have never worked on a tranny before. As JJSolon said, if you are organized and work slow and steady, it is relatively easy. I noticed at first that the shifts were a little harsh, but, after 20-30 miles was put on it (which during this time, I went very easy on the tranny so all the air could be worked out) I noticed that the shifts were much much smoother. They got firmer, faster and they felt very solid. You can feel the push as it enters the next gear. I have been able to chirp the tires in both 2nd and 3rd gears. Overall, I'm very pleased with this upgrade.
