Nobody responded to my post, but I did however follow all of the usual steps. I sanded the area with a sanding pencil. Cleaned the area with ISA, primed, color coat. I let it cure for a day and wet sanded it smooth and then applied a clear coat. I again let it sit for a day and gently wetsanded and polished. I haven't had any problems with the spot since.

Hope that helps.

Brilliant Silver Chip

So I'm about to repair some chips on my BS.

I got keyed the first week, about 1 foot long. For most of the keying he just got the clearcoat, but the POS got through to the metal in a tiny area - so I have to fill that area.

I have a brilliant silver G. I am at the point where I have to pickup products.

For touchup the dealer is charging $18 for a paint pen (has a tip like a highlighter) which comes with a basecoat and clearcoat on either end - you can remove the highlighter piece and dab a fine brush in it.

I heard of, and heard good things about them. For a basecoat and clearcoat - I'll be paying just over $35 shipped - it'll come in a 1oz vile for both

I was thinking of getting langka product to clean up the blob or to just do old fashioned wet sanding on the blob and polish.

So my question is the following:
- Is worth it for brilliant silver over the infinity dealership?
- if I order from, is the topcoat worth the extra cost for a brilliant silver vehicle?
- is the langka kit worth it for my purpose?

Any help is appreciated.

Exclamation Will this method work for me?

I couldn't find Meguiar's unigrit 3000 sheets at my local auto parts store but the best I could find was a 3M 2000 grit wetordry sheets. Which areas should I attempt to touch up and sand/polish? Will it help in my case? I posted a pic.

It looks so far gone that it needs to completely sanded down with lower grit, followed by bondo, more sanding, wet sanding, priming, wet sanding, painted, wet sanded, clear coated, wet sanded....

Hey my car is DC and someone hit my rear bumper that left a bad scratch. I was about to follow these steps but when I applied the touch up paint I bought from the dealership it was significantly darker than my paint. I'll post pictures after work. Was wondering if this was just cuz my color had faded really badly or something or if it was normal? Really don't want to have to repaint the whole bumper for this scratch
