Bose CD player skipping?

recently the Bose CD player has been "freezing" during playback of a song for a split second.

ie. the song would play......pause for a half second and then play....pause for half again....play........pause....etc....

But i've noticed that this is more so when the car is cold (inside) and as the interior warms up, the cd doesn't freeze up anymore (or very little).

Anyone else experiencing this with their G??? It's a bit annoying and I thought I may need to use a cd cleaner or something. I've also heard stories of people having their cds stuck in the changer and then stops working.

i have the same problem, but yes again it only happens in the morning when my cars been sitting outside over night. If you let the car warm up properly then the cd doesnt skip. For me, it has never happened more than once a day, now that i started parking in the garage, it happens rarely.

probably just some condensation/fogging (whatever u want to call it) forming on the disc as the temperature is warming up.

Yep, same thing happens with me. I kinda came to the same conclusion, that it was happening only when the car was cold.

Mine have that problem but only happen when it's HOT, during summer and when I eject my CD it's really hot, took it to the dealer and have it replace(under warranty still) But in the winter when it's cold some buttons get stuck sometimes I can't even press the cd repeat!

My Bose started to skip too, so I just replaced it with a Kenwood DNX 8120. FYI if you change the unit, you will have to change the amp and speakers as the sound quality takes a sh*t kicking as the Bose system can't adapt to aftermarket. So my skipping problem cost me 3000 for a unit and then probably another 1500 in the spring when i replace the speakers and amp. Damn you BOSE!~!

Does it do the same thing if you put a warm disk in the cd player of the cold car?
If not, then it's probably what giddyup69 mentioned above.

Nah, it happened weither the unit was hot or cold, so instead of messing around with a unit without Ipod dock, just got everything I wanted in one unit instead.

My question was directed at the OP but I'm glad your Kenwood makes you happy. Us 2nd gen drivers are still waiting for some aftermarket units to come along too but for right now its factory only.

to be honest I haven't tried that as I've got a small cd case containing cd's that are already in the car (and are the same cold temperature).

I've actually noticed that it is due to colder weather but after the car is warmed up inside, freezing/skipping stops. It's quite annoying but for now I can live with it.

Thanks for the input guys!

hey guys,
my problem is similiar but is worse... my cds do the same deal, skip more in the morning then day, but they will play for a second, then completely pause for a long time, then play for a sec, then stop for a long time... i tried getting a cd lens cleaner from radio shack (it was a cd with small cleaning bristles to wipe the lens down) but that was no help either. the car is a 2004, so i dont think warantee covers it anymore. any suggestions? im going crazy listening to 1 song per 30 mins!

Bose isn't the only system that has this problem. See this link. Sorry but no answer except to move to a warmer climate or bring your CD's in every night!
