Hawk HPS or EBC Redstuff?

Which one to get and why....I'll just be using them as replacement to OEM on the stock rotors. I've got 38k miles now, so just looking for a decent upgrade that won't break the bank.

Thanks for any input....recommendations on places with the best deals are welcome.

if you are just driving the car daily it wont make a huge diffrance.

Get which ever you can cheaper.

If you are going to upgrade your rotors/calipers/lines then id get some higher up pads, but for daily id do some regular pads

Ended up going with EBC Redstuff, so I'll let you guys know how they work out. Install will happen in a week or so.

after getting some hawk hps pads....i actually like the OEM pads better b/c i have less brake dust from the OEM pads. The hps gives a brownish brake dust that is really noticeable. I'm going to go back to OEM pads once these hps wear out

if you dont' race, drift, auto x, you'd be fine with a set of HPS

Trustworthy aftermarket companies usually have available various graphs that show coefficient of friction vs pedal force and temperature so that engineers and racers can make scientific valid decisions.

An important factor not usually disclosed is frorce/friction ramp up time: What happens in the first 0.75 seconds of application.

Failure to publish or hiding published data often means they have problems? Compared to oem pad compounds.

Thanks for the insight above guys.

The EBC intall didn't go as planned. Only 2/4 front pads and 1/3 rear pads had the necessary "tab" with the loop (not sure exactly what this is called) on the back of the pad to affix to the carrier. Obviously this was going to cause some problems if I installed them. I took off my old pads to verify that the parts sent were incorrect and they were. Right part numbers, but they must have slipped through the EBC quality control.

For now, I'm looking back to Hawk, as I'm not too keen on ordering more EBC and getting the same issue. Hopefully I can get the EBC's returned without any issues and get these old pads changed before it gets too cold!

really, wow, I found quite the opposite to be true, my OEM pads on my Brembos got very black within a few days. Switching to the HPS pads, dust doesnt start to show until well after a full week for me. My rears on the other hand because they're still OEM pads start to get black after about 3-4 days.

I replaced my passenger rear pads to HPS and I see the dust very quickly also. Also, I notice it squeeling everytime I back up or when I steep on the brakes to stop.

IMHO, I would stick with OEM pads.

I tried the Hawks and was not pleased at all.
Longer stopping distance and much less initial bit.

Good luck

I installed EBC redstuff on my '03 coupe. I love them. The first 300 miles they squeeked abit, even though I bedded them in properly. But after that they have been great. Even though I dont race or drift, I do drive kinda agressively. The amount of brake dust and squeaking is non-exsistant compared to the oem pads I had on there. Plus they stop better.
