Megan Racing vs Tein Coilovers

I've probably read every thread on this board about Tein coilovers and coilovers in general. It seems amazing to me that I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've heard Megan Racing Coilovers mentioned in any of the threads. Why is this? Are they not up to par? They have adjustments for dampening and height, which the tein basics only have height. For only $100 more, that seems like a pretty good deal.

These are what I'm talking about:

Opposed to these:

My other option is the Tokico D-Specs and Tein H-techs (350Z for both), but if I can get a decent set of coilovers for $900, that might sway my decision heavily!

I would opt for the Tokis' but oust the Tein springs and use Swift Springs.

But if you want to go coilovers, I'd go with neither of your options.

I prefer the Megan Racing (street version and track version) coilovers over the Tein basics, and I have had and tested all of them.

I've installed the Teins (Basics) and Megans (Track) on a WRX before for AutoX and Roadracing. The Megans outlasted the Teins, 2 seasons before the front went. The Teins only lasted a whole season.

Megan also backs up their products and will warranty or sell you replacement parts are a discount! Which we did. But they are gone again, so we're replacing them coils with Ohlins!!

Interesting. I know the tokicos with tein springs are a really popular combo around here. I'm not sure it would be a wrong choice going that way.

The Megan Racing coilovers seem much more attractive than the Tein's as well.

What would the expected lifespan of a set of Megan Racing street coilovers be under normal driving? Just on a daily driver, not tracking or autoxing or anything.

I got MR for awhile and it a good price for the $. The only problem is the back strut top mount ball joint is metal to metal and it make a clunking sound low speed after awhile. Other than that it all good.

Any way to lube that up to get rid of the noise?

Anyone else experience this?

Any details as to why you feel this way? There are dozens upon dozens singing praises of Tein springs. I can't say a thought like that holds much value without any details as to where you are coming from.

I bought my MR coilovers from someone that included some isolation pads for the rear. That should help with the noise.

Pretty much EVERY coilover system for these cars makes some type of creaking or clunking noise now and and then. No big deal.
