how easy do does the Metalcast chip off the washers?

If I only want to get 6 red washers for the plenum then should I just get the 6 pack of red JDM washers off ebay (it would cost less than buying the pack of washers and paint and then risking them chipping)?

Post the link to the washers you're talking about, because some of them have an issue with fading.

If you only want to do 6, then you're probably better off looking elsewhere, as it will end up being more money by the time you count in shipping, etc...
But really, you're better off to do a bunch of them, as 6 will just make you want to replace more and more etc...

after doing some research it seems like Duplicolor suggests using the adhesion promoter before using Metalcast. The adhesion promoter is basically a clear primer so it should prevent flaking

Possibly... IDK if it would look good, the red metalcast is really translucent, so hopefully it wouldn't cause a problem or make the shiny stainless too foggy.
Worth a shot anyway.

i gotta take quite a few out of my engine bay but im re-doing every single one and having everything powder coated ..

loose points at shows if they are picky and see them all chipping ..

im also polishing every single bolt instead of buying them chrome or what ever they are saves you money doing it yourself as well

Sweet!
I'm thinking about swapping some of mine for the chrome ones because they don't have stuff stamped onto the bolt head like the stainless ones. Only problem is, I would have to swap the ones on the plenum for a different style, because they don't make the chrome plated ones in a long enough size :/
