I attempted to paint my grille this morning but couldn't get the top corner clips to budge...

Does anyone have a picture (or description) of the top corner clips? I have the service manual and the clips don't look like the ones on my grille..

I have a KurumaZ bumper, so I'm not sure if the installer swapped the clips with some other piece of fastening hardware..

Whatever is on there has a Phillip screwhead, but the forward area where the fastener goes through looks like it's meant for a clip..

I already bought all the paint supplies.. Probably should have made sure I could remove it first..

I have an 07 IP and it is getting chipped badly with only 5000 miles and 95% city driving. I agree with many who said black does not look good on IP so if anyone has theirs painted IP please post. TY

I disagree. I painted mine flat black with a couple coats of clear and most people like the way it looks on my IP when I had my stock bumper. It gives it a nice contrast and looks even better if you paint your headlights black to match.

I agree that does look good! It matches the grills underneath. I might go gloss thou. Very nice wheels as well!

NICE DIY! I've been asking a few members at meets and they've told me to check the forums, and I found this thread. I recent just put a CF hood on my IP, so I'm looking forward to painting my grill before I replace it with a CF grill (after i finish with the bolt-ons =D )

nice IP calgary !

i was going to try that, too. However, I decided against it, for now at least, because I wasn't sure if I wanted to just tape off the bottom chrome slat so that only the tip stayed chrome, or whether I would leave the entire bottom slat as chrome and just paint the 4 slats above it.

Which did you do? If you taped it off, how much did you leave showing? Any pics?

i plan on doing the same to my car and started with the trunk lid..

i noticed in the op, he uses enamel based paint with (what appears to be) lacquer based primer and clearcoat... from what i've learned on the forums and from other auto painters.. its a bad idea to mix paint types. i don't know exactly how 'bad' it is to do this.. but just wanted to put in my 2 cents.

also, for those of u who don't want to sand all of the chrome layer off.. i'd recommend at least roughening up the surface quickly so your paint has a better surface to stick to..
