Stereo Repair / Driving without a stereo
Good afternoon all!
Im having an issue with my pioneer AVH p4400 stereo. It will randomly shut off on me . I could be sitting still, or driving down the highway. It will turn off for a few seconds, then turn back on and I will not have lost my presets. This leads me to believe its a clipping issue. However I ran it in demo mode (w.o the amps on) to test if the amps were clipping it. They are not.
I took it to an audio shop and we checked all the connections and they all look good. The next thing we thought was maybe its internal. I will be looking into taking it to a local authorized pioneer service shop. I called up and they said they have a 4 day delay and also that it would be 75 to look at it 25 of which will go to a repair if theres an issue.
So 3 questions - 1- is there a good chance its a very simple thing to solve? if so, would I just be able to pop it open and resolder something?
2- is it safe to drive around without my stereo installed?
3- is that pricing fair? or should it be more or less?
