Hiding 1/0 or 0 gauge amp power

I've seen how to run 4 gauge power wire from the battery to the rear. I plan on running 1500+W total so I'll need at least 1/0 gauge power wire. Does anyone have tips on running this from the battery to the trunk? Someone mentioned running it underneath the car instead of through the cabin but I'm not sure how I feel about that even if it is shielded.

I ran 0 gauge... surprisingly easy... take your time though. What I did was drill a hole in behind the battery, and just fed it on the passenger side taking advantage of every nook and cranny I could find.
but you can't tell I've got 0 gauge in the car at all

Is there enough room under the carpet and door sills for the 0 gauge or did you run it some other way?

Any way you could take some pictures of it?

Thanks

can't take pics... too hidden. but it's not hard. drill hole - make sure you don't drill into anything important. if you have a grommet big enough USE IT! then take up the carpet on passenger side. I think there were metal braces I went through. and just continue feeding it back. and between the trunk and backseat there's a nice brace that leaves a pretty big gap. I put my distribution block on the passenger side underneath the plastic place holder, and fed 4 gauge to each of my amps - couldn't find 2 gauge :S

Cool, from what you're saying I can completely hide 0 gauge wire underneath the door sill. Did you have to do any modifications to the carpet/door sill or was there enough room for the cable?

nope. and it's not quite the door sill it's just inside the lip. I can't remember at the moment but you might end up with a slight bump going up to the rear seats.
sorry man forgot to ask coupe or sedan. I have a coupe may be COMPLETELY different than the sedan

+1

I did the exact same thing. I was an audio installer for a few years at a high end shop working on all makes/models and this was one of the easier ones to run 1/0 wire.

That's another option too. I just didn't like the bend angle so I went straight.

true, but almost any 0ga will bend quite a bit

the "myth" that 0ga is impossible to bend is just that, a myth

Rockford/Kicker/Stinger wire is a bit more flexable but even the cheap stuff bends easy

*sigh*

How many Amperes will you be running... wattage "ratings" won't tell you much.

<= 150A ... 4awg

^^^ good find man

in order to find the current you're drawing easiest thing to do is add up the fuse ratings on the side of the amp(s)

I'd prefer to err on the side of caution.

I'll have one JL 450v2/4 running mids and highs and then whatever will be required to properly power 2 IDMAX 10" or 2 JL 10W7. The IDMAX are rated to 1000W rms and I believe the JL are up to 750W rms. I'll have to find a decent 1500W amp to run both, maybe a Rockford T1500? I haven't checked into sub amps for a while so I'm not sure who makes a solid product that actually outputs the rated watts.

With winding the cable through the car I'm figuring more than 6 meters of cable which puts me closer to 2 gauge and I've found 1/0 easier than 2 gauge.
