scoche NN03B harness wiring question

ok i just received my scoschoe NN03b wiring harness and the scosche nissan antenna adapter... and also am very eager to see how my alpine head unit works, so im gonna attempt to try and follow joe's dashkit DIY to get it installed, but before i start... the scosche nno3b pacakge comes with 2 harness, is this correct? so all i do is match the color of the wires up with the ones on my alpine's headunit power harness and ill be set? and of course run my rca's to my amp, etc...

right now my system is consisted of 2 amps, and 2 LOC's with my factory headunit, so do i need to disconnect my LOC's before i use my aftermarket headunit? or can i simply just disconnect the rcas going from my LOC into the amps?

i dont want to damage anything...

Re: scoche NN03B harness wiring question

2 harnesses is correct, plus the antenna adapter, i just received mine as well. Yah just match the colors/wire assignment and you'll be just fine.
I am relying on my service manual for the colors/wiring.

Its in the file AV.PDF on the ESM

Don't recall exactly, but I think there's a little clip on top or bottom you have to press in that's keeping it held onto the deck.

Re: scoche NN03B harness wiring question

Euro,

Its tough to get those stock plugs to disconnect. I just used a flathead screwdriver and the pushed to little retaining clip on the bottom of the plug. Push it up with the screwdriver and then wiggle the plug out. It will eventually come out as long as you push that little clip up.

Disconnect the bottom plugs first as they are easiest to get to those push clips. Then work on the upper plugs....

The AC plug is a separate free floating plug not part of those four plugs.

For the SCosche NN03 harness, you only have to use the main power/ground/ACC/powered antenna harness. IF you are running RCAs, you don't need the speaker harness since your speaker wire will come off the amp. DOn't forget to run your 12v powered amp lead out (blue/white stripe wire) from back of aftermarket deck to remote power terminal on your amp.

I'll see if I can doctor your photo to illustrate the plug disconnection....hold on...

ok. here's your picture. push up that little clip in the red circle to dislodge the retaining clip. THen, you can wiggle the plug out.

You can also use a precision flathead screwdriver and stick it in the little groove the YELLOW arrows are pointing to and wedge teh plug out WHILE depressing the red arrow retaining clip.

Re: scoche NN03B harness wiring question

the upper left plug is the hardest as it is the biggest and most snug .....

Hope this helps. I'll keep checking back to see if you've done it. Let us know.

Re: scoche NN03B harness wiring question

joe thank you so much, sigh i spent almost 12 hours straight getting my alpine headunit in... okay so what you're saying is i dont need the speaker harness from the nn03b at all? cause i did use both harness...

let me explain my system layout better for you, so you can tell me if i'm hooking everything up correctly...

1st, i have boston acoustic pro series 6.5 components for the front... no rear fill, i have 2 amps, one jl 500/1 to power my sub, and one jl 300/4 to power my components up front... (not bridged by the way), im using 2 sets of rcas from my alpine headunit, 1 for the sub and one for the front...

so i can do w/o that speaker harness completely? cuz right now i have both harness from the scosche nn03b package hooked up...

i have a question, do i need to hook up my power antenna wire from my alpine to the harness or no? its the blue wire... cuz i left that unconnected...

everything sounds pretty good, only thing is when i drive, my A/C is on full blast? i can't turn it off, (i don't have the dashkit yet, if that makes a difference, it should come in a week or two), is there any way i can turn my A/C off?

another problem i ran into is... when i power up my alpine headunit, all my speakers make this popping noise, this only happens upon power up of the headunit, what may cause this? is this because i am using the speaker harness as well? cause you mentioned that i dont need it, since im running rca's

please help... i'm almost there!

thanks for all your help...

Re: scoche NN03B harness wiring question

ok....let me try and work through some answers.

1. if you are just running RCAs to both amps and NOT, I repeat, NOT using the stock rear speakers or stock Bose amp, you shouldn't need the speaker wire harness. Your speaker wires for the front components will come off the amp. Whether you run new speaker wires or use the stock speaker wire for the front speakers are up to you.

2. BUT, if you are using the stock rear speakers and not running them through your JL amp, you need to hook up the Scosche speaker wire harness. Otherwise, the rear speakers won't get a signal from the deck.

3. YES, you do need to hook up the powered antenna wire from the back of your Alpine deck to the Scosche wire harness. Even if you hook up the Nissan Antenna Adapter, the stock powered window antenna will not power on if there is no signal from your Alpine deck. This is a common overlook by people who wonder why their radio reception doesn't work, with or without the Nissan Antenna Adapter.

4. For your AC running full blast, do you have the Japan v35 AC controller yet? If you don't have the controller hooked up yet, the AC will default to around 75 degrees and will run cool or warm air to reach 75 degrees. There is no way to turn it off or alter the set temperature.

4a. BUT, if you have your v35 AC controller hooked up and your AC is running uncontrolably, there potentially could be 2 problems:
a. You don't have the AC wire harness connected properly. This is also a common problem at first since the plug connection has one major retaining clip and 2 little plastic connector clips. (Did you see them when you disconnected the stock AC controller?) Connecting them properly is important in having complete AC control.
b. The temperature sensor wire somehow got disconnected. This happened to someone else and he had the installer reconnect this sensor wire which is located somewhere in the dash. You might have to go back to your dealer to hae it reconnected if you can't find it. I personally don't know where it is.

5. I don't know why you are getting that popping sound. One possible problem could be that your gain on your amps are too high, try lowering the gain. Another potential problem is there is an electrically bad connnection in your wire harness that you crimped. Sometimes, if the wires aren't touching enough in your splicing or crimping, there is the possiblity of an elctrical short. YOu might want to check all your connections at the wire harness or at your amps (RCAs and speaker wire terminals). I am just guessing though, maybe someone else can answer this question beter than I can.

Hope this helps.

joe thanks for the prompt reply, okay what about those 4 harnesses that go into the factory radio, i know the 2 top are the speaker and power harness, but what about those 2 on the bottom? what are they for?

popping is probably from the amps....checkout this thread:

Re: scoche NN03B harness wiring question

thanks a lot guys for your support, phew, 2 days spent on rewiring my car and installin my headunit and a lot of troubleshooting. The place i took it to get my 2 amps, sub and LOC installed to my factory headunit, did a horrible job, the more me and my friend took apart my car and saw how they ran the wires and splice into things is horrible, i cant believe it... thanks to my friend we spend 2 whole days this weekend doing it correctly...

did you believe they had the urge to connect my amps to a constant on fuse? even with the key set to off, the amps are both on... sigh, so my friend rewired the blue remote wire from the headunit to a fuse that only turns the amp on when the cars key is on the on position... we manage to finish up and put everything back together, system sounds really nice... i hooked up my factory rears to my amp too, everything works... only problems i have left is

1) when i turn my headunit on, it pops all my speakers randomly, not all the time, but randomly... i did re check my connection to the remote (blue/white) wire and it wasnt connected correctly with the butt plugs, so we re did that, that seem to fix it for awhile, but now it pops randomly upon startup of my alpine headunit...

2) my passenger's side seat doesnt move up when i scoot the lever to put the chair up... odd, but if i were to move the chair up manually using the button it moves... it just doesnt do it automatically like it should... but the driver's side works fine.

3) i havent received yoshi's dashkit yet, but i think its normal when i drive and my a/c is on full blast at 60 degrees... this is normal until i get the dashkit right?

4) since the a/c is on full blast, driving around for awhile will make it build condensation on the plastic trimmings, is this bad? because im driving around with my center console completely stripped, just my alpine headunit is laying there with all the wires exposed...

thanks again!

Re: scoche NN03B harness wiring question

oops, let me make something clear, the placed that hooked up my amp, the remote wire from the amp is hooked up to something else... isnt it suppose to go directly to my alpine's headunit power harness remote turn on wire?

maybe this is whats causing the pops in my speaker when i turn my headunit on...

if i hooked it up like that, wouldnt my headunit turn on 1st, and then the amps?
