so i am kinda confused because i am terrible at looking at pictures. but let me clear this up with myself.

there is ONE plug in the trunk that this plugs into. and then a wire just runs to wherever you want it to in the front seat area to hook the ipod up to.?

Very nice write-up, but to be honest... I probably wouldn't waste money on a $150 part that goes on the STOCK headunit. The stock radio sucks so bad that I'd rather spend my money on an aftermarket headunit that already HAS iPod integration. I paid $200 for my Pioneer unit and it sounds SO much better than the stock one... plus I ran the iPod cable to my center arm console. Granted, the DIN kit costs $200 as well... but it's well worth it.

Yes kennymo, there is only one sat receiver in the trunk but the harness supplied with the pa15-inf has a male and female connection- incase you also wanna put XM or Sirius radio in later.

I aslo thought of replacing the stock head unit but it seemed too much of a pain in the a$$. Plus with my G I prefer doing alot more performance mods. I'm currently looking into a MD spacer and still looking for my hr y pipe

From what I'm reading though, its the amps and of course stock speakers that blow. Supposedly the HU output is fairly flat, so hooking in new amps and component spkrs/ sub will allow you to have great sound and keep the stock look. Hopefully at least..since I think I'm going that route this spring/summer

Would these be about the same set-up on a coupe? I have a 2006 g35 coupe and will be in the hunt for a deal on one of these.

Yup! Your SAT receiver may be in a slightly different location though...

I was on ebay and found a similar item that was only $89 and it's like this configuration, but gets connected to the back of the cd player and since my cd player doesn't work I think it would make a great setup. the isimple has a similar product but uses the radio so may become unreliable during long driving or just signal strength.

I finally rcv'd my from audio kit and actually was kind of easy. I didn't have to mess with the trunk or anything. It was all plug in and play behind stereo, I used a butter knife and the back part of a spoon. call me ghetto, but it was hard and ran the aux cord to the compartment on top of radio. works great and saved about $40 compared to the isimple one.

I purchased this kit for my '05 G35x and had given up being able to find the connector in the trunk until I found your tutorial. I completed the project yesterday and it's flawless. Thank you!
